We think the stylish zip-up bag for storing your blanket that comes in the box is a bonus too and reckon it would make a smart gym bag. The Orbit weighted blanket promises “better, deeper sleep”, and we found it delivered, allowing our tester to sleep soundly throughout the night.
So that it’s weighted where it matters, the glass beads are focused in the centre of the blanket rather than on the edges.At 9kg, it is among the heaviest available, so it is ideal for people weighing around 90kg or people who enjoy a weightier blanket for calming. Our delightfully heavy blankets are great for deep sleep, but it’s essential to check beforehand if the washing machine model you have can bear the full weight of your blanket. Granted, I went for the heaviest option – 11kg – and while lugging it around is enough to warm you up anyway, curling up underneath it is so damn cosy.
Textures can play a big part in soothing our senses, which is why we liked the TheaWellbeing blyss weighted blanket. The result is a breathable blanket that’s soft and smooth on skin, and it can be machine washed to keep it fresh and clean – something you’ll want to do regularly if you’re replacing your duvet with an Orbit.The science behind them isn't rock-solid, as studies into the effects of weighted blankets are limited. For blankets that do not have this, you’ll have to spot clean by hand, using a toothbrush dipped in a solution of warm water and laundry detergent, or you could purchase a separate cover, for easy washing. The beads are made from glass and, while not necessary for use, there’s a removable 100% cotton cover you can add for hygiene purposes. Most weighted blankets are designed for use by one person or, even if it’s a particularly big one, they usually won’t cover the whole bed. The lowdown: American company Nuzzie scores some serious eco points with its hand-knitted weighted blankets.
Something we especially liked about the Baloo weighted comforter is its 100 per cent cotton exterior and interior and that it’s made with only natural and chemical-free materials.If it feels good after that time, then you can increase the time to 20-25 minutes and again just observe how you feel after that time. There is also evidence that 'deep touch pressure', or the feeling these blankets simulate, can help improve anxiety.
