Will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. I mean, there are pictures of my fat six year old self in a "Thriller" t-shirt, but I didn't actually hear any of the music. That's the story of Bad as compared to Thriller, and whether or not you prefer this depends on how prepared you are as a listener to overlook its worst features. Unfortunately, one of the album's most iconic tracks (the closer on this pressing) Smooth Criminal might just sound the most distorted.

I really don't understand why this RP sound very bad between the original press, yes you will have more content but the sound it's definitely under the original UE pressure that i have. If you're having trouble finding out if this is the right pressing you're looking for, the main difference from this one it's the "Made in France" sticker on the back. I haven't heard the original pressing, so I can't compare, though I'd wager this sounds infinitely better than the 2018 picture disc reissue.My copy of this Columbia Carrollton (GA) pressing also features original mixes of certain songs before Michael altered them and used remixes on later pressings. Bad", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Man in the Mirror", "Dirty Diana", "Smooth Criminal", to a lesser extent even "Liberian Girl"- at this point I'll have those tunes stuck in my brain forever. Who can't admire the brilliance in songs like "Smooth Criminal", "Another Part of Me", and "I Just Can't Stop Loving You"? Next, "The Way You Make Me Feel": an updated Motown-esque pop soul song, clearly Michael at his best.

The "Title Track" and second single became a WORLDWIDE PHENOMENON with it's long video co-starring "Wesley Snipes", trying to make "Mike" into a thug. I can't prove it, but I think "Dirty Diana" is what "Mike" was trying to accomplish in having his pure "Rock" anthem. The problem with Bad is that the bad songs are really bad, to the point of taking the shine off the better ones.

While "Off The Wall" and "Thriller" are pretty much timeless pop music, this album is VERY much a product of its time, to the point where a solid half of it is damn near impossible to listen to nowadays. For me, Bad is certainly the better album of the two, but it becomes complicated when Off the Wall gets thrown into the picture (as already noted in my review of that album, it's easily his most consistent work, but it doesn't have the highlights later albums did).
