About this deal

You’re introduced to Beth who has a happy life married to Tom and they have a sweet three year old daughter named Poppy. Filled with dramatic twists and turns, The Serial Killer’s Wife is adapted from Alice Hunter’s crime novel of the same name. It’s a fresh start and intriguing debut novel earned my four criminal minds, dysfunctional relationships, perfect couple stars!

My main problem though, was with the wife, Beth, and since most of the book was from her POV, I found it frustrating! It felt so repetitive, and definitely slowed the pace of the story, sucking any potential tension out of the story. And the unknown narrator who is forced to have BDSM kind of sexual relationship with a man: we’re not sure it’s Tom! While waiting for the series release, you can also watch Valeria Mazza Documentary on Paramount Plus. The story explores Beth's new, oddly convenient friendships as she navigates the unfolding investigation into her husband. If you’re already a fan of the series, subscribe to ExpressVPN, and enjoy the best movies on Paramount Plus with similar preferences. Beth has to face the community where they live and where she owns a small business that puts her directly in touch with the public daily. The idea of the plot was very interesting, but Beth as a protagonist wasn't very compelling and I wasn't very much invested in the story. Set in an idyllic English town, the series follows Beth Fairchild, who has prepared a surprise birthday party for her husband Tom, a local doctor. Tom is charged with the murder of Katie Williams, his former girlfriend but he is confident that they will let him go because there can’t be a case without a body. Primarily, of course, it can be applied to Tom and his efforts to ensure his behaviours remain secret. When the police came to question her husband in relation to a murder, Beth Hardcastle’s reaction is one of shock and confusion: how could they possibly believe that her Tom, the perfect husband and father, would have anything to do with it? I would like thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. Domestic thrillers and crime series are always of interest, and a story like this is less of a risk for broadcasters as there’s an increasing number of slots available for these four-parters.Thus, upto the 62% mark, I was not thrilled but just waiting to know when the second murder details will be revealed. There are too many detailed sentences on Beth's thoughts, but I suppose, as she's the titular lead, she gets the lion's share of the word count.

The Serial Killer’s Wife Paramount+ reveals first look at The Serial Killer’s Wife

I was definitely gripped throughout this; I picked it up and didn't put it down again until i'd finished reading it. She is a difficult character to feel sympathy for as she blurts out secrets to people she barely knows and neglects the café and her business assistant. My feelings towards the characters changed throughout, as who to trust and who is giving a true account is something that is only slowly revealed. The Serial Killer’s Wife is a beautiful blend of Drama, Mystery, and Thriller, offering a suspenseful and engaging narrative of Alice Hunter’s novel. Hunter has fabricated a juicy psychological thriller brimming with disturbing fantasies, complex characters and complicated relationships! The writing style was really smooth and easily allowed you to read "one more page" until suddenly, like me you've finished it in 24 hours! With most of the village present, as Tom is the beloved local doctor, Beth’s world is turned upside down when the party is interrupted by the police and Tom is arrested for the murder of his former assistant.

The Serial Killer’s Wife by Alice Hunter | Waterstones

They seem to have it all but one night the police come knocking for Tom and take him away for questioning . After several hours Tom arrives back home but insists that it was nothing and they would talk about it the following day, the problem is the following day Tom is back at the station again and this time it doesn't look like he's coming home.Ah this was one of those sneaky books where you think you see what’s coming but then that soon changes! However, as time goes by it’s clear that Beth is holding something back from the police that might be damaging to Tom’s claims of innocence. Laced with suspense and impossible to put down, Hunter studied psychology and worked in the prison service as part of a team offering rehabilitation programmes to violent offenders and the story feels more authentic due to her experience. Beth is a character with a lot of depth and I really loved seeing more and more of her as the book goes on.
