Each book represents a chapter in the broader narrative, introducing new twists, turns, and perhaps the occasional talking dragon (disclaimer: dragons depend on the genre). The Harper trilogy is one I only recently read for the first time, and as they were so fresh in my mind I omitted them from my chronological reread. Their background, style, and influences often shine through in their writing, making each book a unique experience.

The biggest problem has been solved (or at least, it will be solved in the near future), and it’s very epic. Although D'kor is prevented from entering Dawn Sisters Pub, since Ista Weyr's dragonriders have given themselves a bad reputation recently, N'eth is allowed to enter.

The short stories not collected are "Beyond Between" by Anne McCaffrey (2003) and "The Impression" (1989) by Jody Lynn Nye and Anne McCaffrey. I first read this about a decade ago, and considered skipping it in my recent chronological read, but in the end I decided to power through it for completeness’ sake. I was introduced to the world of Pern many years ago and I had collected most of the works in this series that had been written by Anne McCaffrey, the original author of the Pern books. At the meeting, S'bor discusses the recent death of Nalaya — Lytah finds it odd that she died of a cold contracted after a visit to tropical Ista Hold — and notes that her queen, Morath, is bound to the Hatching Grounds by her clutch.
