This perfume is such a match to Alaïa designs - violets and leather - it should not work but it does. WHAT I DID DO, however, was that I sprayed it on a piece of wrapping paper that I put in a bag with a gift of wine for someone, and the person said that the presentation of my gift to them was quite classy. I think that this perfume is an attempt to make a fusion of feminity, modernity and eastern inspiration.

I'm now reconsidering Alaia as something to keep in my collection: this would be perfect as a safe, clean, fresh musk fragrance for times when something more spiced, leathery, and/or animalic might offend or distract others, such as when I'm teaching smaller classes or presenting at conferences. I can appreciate that its a finely made scent, it smells expensive and quirky in its own little way. This a journey to a woman's inner self - floral yet bitter, sweet yet leathery, feminine yet masculine, tender yet harsh. What I mean is, if you're someone who's merely beginning your journey into the world of fragrances, if you don't know many essential oils and if you don't like distinctive, exotic fragrances, stay away from this perfume, since Alaïa is a powerful juice that transports you to other eras, other places, other ways of thinking. Before i started collecting perfume i disliked this perfume and thought it smelt like a dirty animal.This one I believe would be gorgeous sitting by a fire in the winter snuggling up on a Chesterfield chaise lounge with a good classic (book).

Violet has a rather melancholic vibe in erfumes on my skin despite of I absolutely adore its sscent in nature but never really wear it as a perfume because it has this subtle depressing effect on me. Now it's drying down to a unisex clean yet dirty musk-powder and still smells distinctly of tea in a fresh floral way.

It smells like a violet from outer space with an addiction to earthly luxury cars with a handful well dressed beautiful women sitting inside (with different perfumes on them plus the one of the male driver). It really is a beautiful fragrance, unlike anything else that I’ve tried and one that I’d suggest you try for yourself to truly appreciate how lovely it is! The work for true connoisseurs and gourmets of niche perfumery, with the echoes of skin, fragrant in the hot air of Tunisia, where Alaia was born, fascinates with the combination of the incongruous. Can totally see when Turin was coming from when he said it smelt like the inside of a Concorde, perfume and leather.
