About this deal

The art of Stephen Gibson is truly stellar (he is up there with the likes of some of the best artists in board games people!

It may happily embrace basic, dice-heavy combat and card-drawing wilderness travel, but Folklore: the Affliction, mark my words, is still a lot of fun.It may make the game a little easier, by having more items available in town, but if that worries you make the market 'dynamic': Every time you visit shuffle the marketplace cards, and remove 2-3 at random - dwindling supplies are an every day occurrence for the citizenry of Kremel. Find and destroy the source of the evil spreading its claws into the heart of the land, decimating its people and resources. In our final battle, against some werewolf-summoning Moon Priests, Steve and Will used their ghost abilities to sap life from enemies, deal some devastating blows, and all but sacrifice their afterlife to bring down the boss monster in the final seconds.

Just don’t come in expecting something as thoroughly developed as what you may expect in a proper tabletop RPG or in the Witcher games/books. Imagine Eldritch Horror except that every once in a while you have to pause the game and play out 15 minutes of story narrative and exploration on the Mansions of Madness game boards. The character sheets also display a variety of skills which can include archaeology, awareness, ecology, faith, nerve, occult, speech, and trickery. There are multiple decks of cards, a world map, a rule book and story journal, loads of tokens and counters, a slew of adventure (combat encounter) maps, as well as thirty-five detailed miniatures. The leader and controller both roll a d10 to determine initiative with the high roller’s group taking actions first. Obviously these cards shouldn’t go in the item deck, but it would have been very easy to have a separate deck of cards for these extra special items. I do have to give kudos to GreenBrier as they continue to make a real effort toward providing clarity when you read their rulebooks. Tim Jennette, the Metal Meeple, takes a look at the co-operative RPG style board game of vampirism and lycanthropy - Folklore:The Affliction! You will work solely with your companions to navigate an open world; one designed for linear plot advancement or free exploring – whichever you’d like.
