About this deal

If ye ever wanted a blow by blow account of the impact of imperialist British ideology on urban Scottish expression, then look nae further than this frank account by Limmy. There’s a bit in this book where Limmy says the reviews of his stuff he’s into are the ones that say, I liked it, but. I've been a fan of Limmy for many years, and am surprised it took me so long to read any of his books.

There were a lot of times that I felt he was describing myself, being a semi-traumatised adhd 80s kid riddled with self doubt. You’ll struggle to find an adjective on most pages, but that lack of floweriness is direct and hugely refreshing. It’s more going to be wee things that pop out in my mind, all the bad stuff, all the mad stuff that’s happened.Limond is an avid player of Euro Truck Simulator 2, American Truck Simulator and Farming Simulator 19: “These games where you’re not trying to complete anything, you can just drive and yap away to whoever is tuning in. On one hand a fun book about Limmy's life and career to date, it's like he's chatting his life story; on the other hand an honest book about mental health, addiction, and overcoming the darkest thoughts. Limmy was in a relationship with Lynn McGowan from 2000; [40] In January 2022, she announced they had separated. Its “raison d’etre” was meant to be to talk about mental health stuff, and it kind of does, but I submit that it is strongest for the fact that it shows you a normal guy who has fucked up, succeeded, fucked up some more, and is just plugging away at it. When you hear something like that, along with the fact I earlier used the words “maximally niche”, you would be forgiven for thinking he was some hauty, intellectual type that is only funny in a very specific, academic way.

I think I’m all right, but you just don’t know when the day is coming that you get cancelled,” he says, “it’s coming for all of us. I love Limmy and really enjoy his humour, but this was just so beyond what I enjoy reading lol Of course, I didn’t expect jokes constantly and I honestly really enjoyed his view on mental illness and being human, even when his writing got very dark at times. While he’s hopeful of getting a short series of Limmy’s Homemade Show produced for BBC Scotland, he’s also delighted with how his Twitch channel is going. Regularly spotted riding his bike around Glasgow, he is happy with his lot and that includes the decision to leave his old Limmy’s Show characters hanging in the wardrobe department. Fairly early into the book it became apparent that this is indeed a real autobiography, at times brutally honest, and frequently more than 'quite funny'.on their "Hot 100" list in 2006, which celebrated the people who made the biggest impact on cultural life in Scotland over that year.
