Sadly, I can’t give this feature a thumb’s-up because it is laborious, irritating and offers absolutely nothing that you didn’t already know. Once there, however, the group find themselves beset by demons from the nearby woods when they begin reading from an unearthed Book of the Dead. It's interesting to hear the three talk about their experiences now that time has afforded some additional perspective. The management works very hard to make sure the community is running the best software, best designs, and all the other bells and whistles.

Sprays of blood and dashes of gore are perfect companions for outlandish action and hilarious one-liners, but watch out for when Ash vs Evil Dead truly flexes its horror muscles, you’ll jump out of your skin!

Imaging is marvelously wide and immersive, showing terrific fidelity and resounding separation as movement between the channels is smooth and convincing. I’m not exaggerating here, but this one of THE goriest and blood soaked horror films I’ve ever seen. This classic dark fantasy horror comedy is the third installment in the Evil Dead film series, directed by the great Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Drag Me To Hell). Evil Dead Rise is utterly dark and grim, with a teal blue color grading that just accentuates the inky blackness that it takes place in.First of all, a couple of the extras features that were promised with this Sony edition, which is a single disc with everything housed on the Blu-ray, as opposed to a supplemental DVD in the US - “Ellen and the Teacher” (? Yeah, I’m going to spoil it right now by saying it once again surprised me, much like the 2013 film. Particularly interesting is the section on the film's second coming with its triumphant impact on videotape, but this whole thing is thoroughly entertaining, perfectly frank and fun-but-fascinating.

Rear activity is also fairly quiet, except for some mild discrete sounds and lights bleeds from the musical score, extending the soundfield attractively. Effects like the demonic groaning, breaking glass and the creaking of the cabin doors help add to the suspense.This release has the matted widescreen version only, which does suffer from the contrast problem as detailed above, but plays as the original version without any editing tweaks. The bonus of the new PiP track for the UK market is an utter waste, so don’t be taken-in by it as being something fresh and unique. The great clout as Scotty thunks the axe into her and immediately drops her to the deck has always been quite satisfying, but just you listen to the clarity of the juicy body-parts jittering messily on the floor now!
