Liberated from the dead hand of Communism in 1989, free enterprise in Poland was relaunched. The old Polska Zvardow distillery, with a vision for a premium Vodka, began producing Belvedere Vodka in 1993, with the first bottles coming off the production line in 1994. This fine example of Neoclassical architecture has undergone numerous rebuilds and renovations over the years, with the work always overseen by renowned architects. Belvedere's history starts with an old family recipe and distillation process that predates the distillery itself by about 600 years. The beautiful bottles and vodka itself were launched in 1993 however, the distillery was actually established in 1910. Belvedere uses only Polish-grown rye sourced from eight local farms. Following fermentation, it undergoes a triple distillation to produce a spirit of great purity which is also full of flavour. As well as the flagship Belvedere Pure expression, the distillery produces some super premium versions that highlights the flavour and terroir of rye grown in Poland including the Belvedere Heritage 176 made with a proportion of high flavour malted rye spirit, and various single estate bottlings.
