About this deal

The series follows Lee’s journey as the captain of a multimillion-dollar yacht in the Caribbean focusing on the challenges that the crew faces and their everyday life on the boat. When you go through this together and you come out on top, it creates this incredible bond," Sandy told the remaining staff. They added: "Wish I could blame it on him having to deal with his physical condition, but he's always had a foul mouth."

Running Against the Tide: True Tales from the Stud of the Sea

The yacht traveled around Thailand in Season 7 where the crew and viewers were treated to a truly memorable South East Asian experience. From the iconic Phi Phi Islands to the beautiful beaches of Ko Yao Yai, there were plenty of fascinating landmarks to see on the way. Season 5 took viewers to the tranquilcruising grounds of Saint Martin whilst season 4 saw M/Y BG in the glistening waters ofthe Virgin Islands. In confessional she explained: "I am just so grateful for their hard work, their dedication. It's like we were in the trenches together. With a sea captain on the front cover, I guess one should expect a bit of sailor's cursing. Captain Lee did not disappoint. Along with tales of debauchery, drugs and drunkenness, this book should stay safely on the adult shelf. However, do not let that keep you from reading about an average guy thrust into the spotlight of television.I can relate to him about his son’s death. My son also passed due to drug use. He seems so compassionate and sincere. Would like to let him know that I’ll say prayers for his wife, himself, and family. So glad to see this info about Capt.Lee. I have watched his show for several years, was watching when his wife joined him, and watched the pain when he lost his son. My heart goes out to him and his wife and all the rest of his family. They have gone through a lot over the past few years but know that God will carry them through it all…that is how so many of us are able to deal with life! The book tells the story of how he came to be a Captain in the first place. How he went from tradie to restauranteur to sailor and all the ups and downs in between. Of course, it is all told in his very upfront and direct manner which is amazing. The stories all have a way of leading in to each other, the way they would if you were having a long conversation with a good friends over a few frosty beers. Exactly the kind of feel you would want to get from this book. Great show. Lee is tough on the crew and necessary, especially regarding safety. Mistakes that endanger the crew and passengers cannot be taken lightly. I do emphasize with Captain Lee regarding the Sciatica pain and mobility problems. A very difficult to identify and treat. Long recovery and therapy help a lot! Offering Sandy a health update, he told the outgoing captain he was "doing great" after treatment for his sciatic nerve.

Running Against the Tide | Book by Captain Lee, Michael Shohl

I have loved watching every show of this series over and over. The scenery is so beautiful and watching the chefs work their magic is enlightening. Don’ like some of the crew (Hannah and a few other superior beings). A floating paradise that turns heads on the water, this heavenly Benetti vessel comfortably accommodates 12 guests across 6 sumptuous staterooms, with additionalcapacity for up to 12 crew members. She also boasts an open-air cinema, a split-level owner's suite and an impressive array of water toys. So with this in mind, of course when C. Lee came our with his book I grabbed it straight away and prepared myself for a good giggle. If you are looking for the same thing, you won't be disappointed. Although Lee believed he knew Mary Anne well, he admitted he made this same mistake only once during their long relationship. Doctors have assured me I'm not going to damage myself any more by working and I'll be goddamned if anything's gonna keep me from it."I hope that he gets to witness that and walking away knowing that he’s healthier, he’s better, and he finished with an excellent crew," Sandy added. No! This is your birthday present. This is your Valentine’s Day present. This is your birthday card. This is your Valentine’s Day card.”

Expecting stories from the show, I was surprised to find this as more of a life lessons book that doesn't even hint at the show until the last chapter. Following along Captain Lee's life from before he fell in love with the sea, he imparts his wisdom and experiences. Again, it's not bad but it left me wanting more. I know he has 5 kids but he only ever mentions 1 in the book. I was always curious how he balanced being a captain with family life as he travels so much and absolutely none of that was mentioned. He brings up his wife a bit but it still feels really dismissive of the family related labor she must have put in to support a career that had him gone for weeks or months at a time. On the show he has also frequently mentioned that she worked with him on boats and was a chief stew for some time but this also doesn't come up at all in the book. In confessional, Lee explained: "I've made a lot of improvement, I've been spending every day in physical therapy and it was tough. Lee advised his followers against listening to their partner even if they say one present for both occasions will be fine. The show is undeniably a ton of fun. From the drama in the crew quarters, to the incredible beaches, the show provides an entertaining look behind the curtain.

one in a couple of sentences. Book would have been much better if he had shared some of his family life, some stories about his television show. This book is full of interesting and funny stories about his life and those around him. Readers will get to read about how he unexpectedly fell in love with boats and wanted to become a Captain out on the sea. He usually prefers charter jobs to private ones as he gets to meet more people & has always thought of himself as a people person. It was fun to get to know how Captain Lee found his love for the ocean. The ghost writer did a great job capturing Captain Lee’s tone and demeanor. Loved that they did his funny one liners as titles for chapters.
