About this deal

Want to give it as a gift? Pour it into a pretty bottle, add a label/tag and you’re good to go! It’s so simple, so delicious! For a butterscotch toffee vodka use Werther’s or a traditional butterscotch. Alternatively, try a Daim Bar vodka! I chose apple because of the flavors in my dish but you can infuse anything into vodka (and probably other liquors though vodka is ideal due to its minimal taste). When I was searching for my beet breakthrough recipe last fall, someone shared the idea of beet infused vodka (not quite there yet). Toffee vodka is so easy to make at home with this two ingredient, one step recipe, and a little time. There really is nothing to it. You just add your toffees to the vodka, shake them up and leave them to infuse. Let time do the rest.

Swirl rather than shake the jar, so as to avoid any mess. The rubber seals on preserving jars generally are not leak proof with spirits when shaken. Step Three – Leave your vodka to infuse for about five days, swirling the jar every day until the toffees dissolve fully. The vodka will be opaque and creamy in appearance. At this stage it looks like an Irish cream. Tip crab apples into preserving pan (no need to cut them up). Add enough water to just cover them. Bring to the boil, simmer and stir now and then until the fruit has turned mushy. What do you think? Maybe decorate a little bottle with ribbon and give to a loved one at Christmas? They may be small and sour, but you can make some amazing recipes with the fruit of the crab apple tree. They have an exceptionally high pectin and acid content which makes them ideal for setting fruit jams and jellies. They also have an excellent, tart and tangy apple flavour. Toffee apples often only get half eaten because they’re too big. But crab apples are the perfect size. This recipe makes 12 toffee crab apples. Ingredients I find that a hard toffee gives a better flavour than the soft ones. Quantities are flexible in this toffee vodka recipe. If you prefer, you can increase the amount of toffee to give a stronger, sweeter flavour. Allow to cool a little and then pour into a jelly bag and leave to strain overnight into a large bowl. Don’t squeeze the bag or the jelly will be cloudy.
